Singapore Adventure: 4 Days of Fun for the Whole Family!
Our family recently returned from a fantastic 4-day, 3-night trip to Singapore! We were a group of seven, including little ones. To make planning easier, we used Travelgram for hotel bookings, SIM cards, and attraction tickets, which saved us a lot of time and effort. Here's a recap of our experience, hoping it helps families planning a visit to the Lion City!
Hotel: HOTEL CALMO BUGIS
The location was perfect! Right in the Bugis area, with easy access to buses and the MRT. Plus, the area is bustling with delicious food options.
- Close to the legendary Ah Chew Dessert – a must-try!
- We booked two Deluxe Quad Rooms (2 beds/room, no breakfast) through Travelgram for 23,500,000 VND for three nights.
- Note: the hotel requires a deposit (refundable upon check-out).
SIM Card
We purchased Singtel 4G SIM cards through Travelgram and picked them up at Changi Airport. The cost was 199,000 VND per SIM. The service was stable, and it was very convenient for using maps and booking rides.
Getting Around
We used a combination of bus, MRT, and Grab:
- We found the Moovit app to be more accurate and user-friendly than Google Maps.
Universal Studios Singapore (USS)
Pro tip: Book tickets directly on the official Universal Studios website to enter the park an hour earlier than standard opening times. This is a great way to experience popular attractions without long wait times!
Here's what we did:
- Start with Transformers, Jurassic Park, and Revenge of the Mummy to avoid the biggest crowds.
- Transformers was a huge hit with everyone!
- Jurassic Park is a water ride (you will get wet, so bring a raincoat).
- Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster – fast, with twists and fire effects. Not recommended for young children or those who are sensitive to thrill rides.
- The WaterWorld show is a must-see. It's an outdoor action show that's amazing!
- We finished all the rides by 2 PM, which was perfect for avoiding the heat and fatigue.
Foodie Adventures
Singapore is a food paradise with a wide variety of options, from traditional to modern, at reasonable prices.
- Our top 3 favorite places:
- 4-Fingers Crispy Chicken – absolutely delicious! Crispy, flavorful, and addictive!
- Chili Crab at Keng Eng Kee Seafood – a true culinary experience.
- Tip: Make a reservation, or be prepared for a wait. We arrived at 6 PM and had to wait until 8 PM, but it was worth it.
- Din Tai Fung – a famous Chinese restaurant. Everything is tasty, though a little expensive. The quality is outstanding.
- Other must-tries:
- Salted Egg Chicken with Rice at 3 Meals A Day – crispy chicken with rich, savory salted egg sauce. Great with rice, and kid-friendly.
- Satay (grilled skewers) at Lau Pa Sat – affordable, tasty, and flavorful.
- Geylang Frog Porridge – authentic and delicious.
- Hawker Chan Chicken Rice – a Michelin-starred eatery with affordable prices.
- Toast Box – the perfect Singaporean breakfast of butter toast and coffee.
