Thailand to Offer Free Domestic Flights for Foreign Visitors
Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports plans to give away free domestic flight tickets to 200,000 international tourists. This initiative aims to boost tourism throughout the nation over a three-month period.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, the campaign is called "Buy International Flights, Get Free Thai Domestic Flights." It will encourage visitors to explore lesser-known destinations.
How it Works
International travelers who have purchased an international flight ticket will be eligible for a complimentary round-trip domestic flight. This offer includes a baggage allowance of 20 kilograms and is valid on six airlines: Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet.
The free tickets will be provided when booking international flights directly with the airlines or through online travel agencies. Minister Sorawong stated this campaign is specifically for those who have not yet booked their international flights.
Timing and Support
The program is scheduled to run from September to November of this year. The government will subsidize each ticket with 1,750 baht for a one-way ticket, or 3,500 baht for a round trip, per traveler.
