Food Adventures in Thailand: A Lesson in Portion Sizes!
When ordering food in Thailand, get ready for a surprise – the portion sizes can be HUGE! You might see a bowl in a picture and assume it's the same size as a Vietnamese bowl, so you order one for each person. Then, they bring out a bowl the size of a small hot pot! It's a lot of food.
They really do it this way often! Some places even serve noodle bowls bigger than three regular pots. Watching people, especially tall guys from cold regions, finish those bowls and drink the broth is incredible. My entire family of six might not even be able to finish a bowl that big. So, pay close attention to the size when ordering to avoid wasting food.
A Delicious Discovery: Sweet and Sour Fish Soup
I found a refreshing dish of fish cooked with mushrooms, light and tasty, similar to Korean kimchi soup. They even add oranges during cooking, which makes it smell fantastic. If you want extra tofu, it's just two baht more. Delicious!
Xinjiang's Famous French Fries
And then there are these french fries! I adore them. The potatoes from the Xinjiang region are said to be the best in the world, so flavorful and fluffy. I eat them almost every day here because I figure I can't get ones quite this special back home. Yum!
