Moxy Putrajaya: A Second Stay (27-28/6/25)
Here's the lowdown on my second visit to Moxy Putrajaya, perfectly positioned next to IOI City Mall in Putrajaya. This Marriott-backed hotel, which opened its doors in February 2024, has definitely made a splash.
I snagged a Corner Queen Golf View room through Trip.com. Last May, I stayed in a Moxy Queen room. This time around, the Corner Queen cost me RM357.10, inclusive of tax, but excluding breakfast.
Arriving a bit early, around 12:30 pm, I headed straight to the reception in the spacious and stylish lobby. Despite a crowd due to a public holiday, the check-in process was surprisingly swift, with friendly staff. I was lucky enough that my room was ready, and I received my access card right away.
I zipped up to the 8th floor using one of the five lifts. As the name suggests, my room was in the corner of the building. It felt a bit more expansive than the Moxy Queen, measuring 258 square feet compared to the 236 square feet of the Moxy Queen room. Entering the room, the bathroom was to the right, followed by an open clothes rack on the left. Past the bathroom was a cabinet housing a mini-fridge and a safe, with drink-making essentials on top.
The sleeping area featured a queen-size bed and a single sofa. There was a small work desk and chair in the corner for any office needs. A large TV, perhaps 60 inches, faced the bed. The Corner Queen's standout feature is its dual-aspect windows, one overlooking the front of the hotel (IOI City Mall and the pool) and the other facing the golf course.
The bathroom, while compact, had a sink, toilet, and shower area. The toilet featured a small bidet, and the shower area was quite spacious, with both a rain shower and a handheld showerhead. The shower space was enclosed with clear glass. The hotel provided full toiletries, including toothbrushes and hand towels.
The hotel boasts a large pool on the 2nd floor, facing IOI City Mall. It's open from 7 am to 9 pm. The pool itself is nice, though I felt the furniture arrangement was a bit cramped. Next to the pool is a 24-hour gym.
Wi-Fi in the room was free and clocked in at 67 Mbps. For mobile data, CelcomDigi and Tune Talk delivered speeds of 419 Mbps and 416 Mbps, respectively. The TV selection included a good range of free channels, mostly in HD. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The hotel doesn't provide irons in each room, but there's a dedicated ironing room. I skipped breakfast this time (it's RM40 per person). I opted for valet parking, which cost RM26.
Moxy Putrajaya is a great spot for those who love taking photos, with plenty of Instagrammable spots, especially in the lobby, which also has games available. Its location, next to IOI City Mall, makes shopping and dining super convenient. It might not be ideal for large families due to the room sizes. For those using public transport, the hotel is 9.2 km from Putrajaya Sentral. You can take the MRT or ERL to the station and then grab an e-hailing service to the hotel.
