Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel Genting Highlands: My Experience
Following my stay at 1001 Nights Hotel, I headed straight to the Wyndham Ion Majestic, conveniently located nearby. I'd actually been here before, back in July 2024, when it had just opened. This time, I took advantage of a RM200 voucher I'd earned as a hotel member, paying only RM88. After deducting the voucher, my final bill was a mere RM47.50, inclusive of tax, but excluding breakfast.
I arrived at the hotel counter around 12:45 pm and swiftly checked in. The process was quick, and I paid the RM3 Pahang State Government tax. Soon after, I got my room access card and went up to my room. The hotel has seven lifts, and waiting times were reasonable.
I was assigned a room on the 22nd floor, which had the same layout as the room I stayed in during July 2024. The primary difference was the view. This time, I got a room facing the mountains, unlike my previous room that overlooked the peak of Genting Highlands. The room offered a comfortable 376 square feet of space.
Upon entering, there was a bathroom to the right. To the left, there was an open shelf for hanging clothes and a safe. A cabinet housing a sink and a mini fridge was positioned along the left wall next to the bed. Above it, there were amenities for making drinks. Between this cabinet and the bed sat a single sofa and a small round table. A desk lined the wall opposite the bed, with a 55-inch TV mounted above it.
The bathroom was compact, with a sink, toilet, and a shower area. The shower area had two shower options and was enclosed by fully transparent glass. A bidet was provided next to the toilet. The hotel provides complete toiletries.
Similar to my review of 1001 Nights Hotel, the hotel pool is on the 13th floor. It has two main pools, one indoors and one outdoors. There are also several large pools for children. The pools are open from 8 am to 9 pm. On the same floor, there's a gymnasium, sauna, and steam room. Additionally, a spa is available.
The hotel offers relatively fast wifi, although its consistency could be improved. Speeds reached up to 98mbps, but internet access using data from telcos faced issues within the rooms, only accessible from the balcony. CelcomDigi reached speeds of 130mbps, while TuneTalk only managed 7mbps. The hotel provides basic TV channels, along with Vision Four, all in HD. Water pressure in the shower was strong. The hotel provides ample parking, free of charge for guests.
Personally, I really enjoy both the Wyndham Ion Majestic and 1001 Nights. Besides the cool climate, the views from the hotel are stunning. There's not much difference between the two since they share the same facilities within the Wyndham Ion Majestic building. Aside from the facilities I mentioned, Hard Rock Café enthusiasts will be pleased to know it has opened on the 50th floor. There's also a smaller HRC store in the Wyndham Ion Majestic hotel lobby. A unique feature of the Hard Rock Café here is its pool, located next to the café on the 50th floor. Guests pay RM120 to use the pool, receiving an HRC towel and snacks.
Both hotels are about 5km from SkyAvenue, located at the peak of Genting Highlands. The hotel provides hourly shuttle services, but these aren't free. Guests pay RM7 per trip. The hotel is located roughly 10km from the Genting Highlands Premium Outlet (GHPO). To reach GHPO, you can go to SkyAvenue and then take the cable car, should you prefer not to drive. I'll certainly be back, as I still have two Wyndham Ion Majestic vouchers and five 1001 Nights Hotel vouchers to use.
