Glenmarie Hotel & Golf Resort Staycation (13-14/9/25)
I recently embarked on a staycation adventure, choosing three hotels for a relaxing getaway. The first stop was a resort with a golf course located in Shah Alam, Selangor. Formerly known as Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie, it is now managed by Tradewinds Corp Bhd. Following extensive renovations, it reopened last January. I booked directly through the resort's website to take advantage of a promotion.
My Deluxe room, priced at RM300, included breakfast for two and excluded an 18% tax. Furthermore, I received a food and beverage voucher worth RM88.
Arriving around 4:20 PM, I headed straight to the lobby. It was spacious, open, and beautifully designed. Besides the reception area, a restaurant was located on the same level. The fresh feel of the resort was immediately apparent upon entering. Check-in was swift, and I received my room access card in minutes. I was fortunate to be upgraded to an Executive Club room.
Executive Club Room Experience
The Executive Club room was the same size as the Deluxe room, 344 square feet. The difference was the ensuite bathroom, which featured a bathtub. Upon entering, there was a space to store belongings and hang clothes. A separate enclosed area housed an iron and ironing board. The mini fridge and safe were located at the end of the entry area, with tea and coffee-making facilities placed on top.
The sleeping area included a king-size bed and two single sofas. A small square table sat between the sofas. In the corner, next to the bed, was a desk with a lamp. A large 60-inch TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed, providing entertainment. The room offered a stunning view overlooking the golf course.
The bathroom was spacious, including a sink, toilet, shower area, and bathtub. The sink was in the center, with the toilet next to it. A spray hose was available for convenience. The shower area was enclosed with a fully transparent glass screen and offered two shower heads. The large bathtub was at the end of the bathroom. The hotel provided a comprehensive set of toiletries.
The resort features an outdoor swimming pool at the back. There's a spacious area for adults and a smaller pool for children. The pool is open from 7 AM to 8 PM.
Connectivity and Amenities
Free Wi-Fi in the room was fast, reaching 30mbps for both uploads and downloads. Telco coverage, however, was a little slow, with CelcomDigi offering 40mbps and Tune Talk at 24mbps. There were plenty of free TV channels, mostly in HD quality. The water pressure in the shower was strong, although the shower space felt somewhat cramped.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant in the lobby. The menu wasn't extensive, and the food was generally standard. The nasi lemak was just average, in my opinion. The restaurant area was somewhat small, and it could get crowded during peak hours.
The resort offers 24-hour in-room dining, although with a limited menu. I had lunch at the restaurant to use my RM88 voucher. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The nasi goreng was RM32, which I enjoyed. The pizza was also delicious at RM44. The resort provides free open parking for guests.
Overall Impression
I personally liked the resort as it's still new, and the room was spacious and beautiful. The furniture's colors gave it a premium feel, and the lighting was balanced and aesthetically pleasing. It is a great place to relax because of the serene and green surroundings. In the mornings, guests can enjoy bird songs.
The resort is clean, and the amenities are well-maintained. The towels were soft and comfortable. The price of around RM300 is not overly expensive. The resort is located in Glenmarie, 4.2 km from Subang Parade and 6.3 km from Sunway Pyramid. For public transport users, the Kelana Jaya LRT line has a stop at Glenmarie Station. From the station, e-hailing services are available, as the resort is only 1.8 km away. I would return here to try the suite.
