My Amazing 3-Day San Francisco Adventure

Just wrapped up a fantastic trip to San Francisco, flying in from Los Angeles before heading back to Singapore. I completely fell in love with the city!

Hotel Stay and Fisherman's Wharf

Initially, I was advised to stay near Union Square, but the hotel prices were through the roof. Turns out there was some big event happening during my visit. So, I found Fisherman's Wharf to be a much better fit, since I'm not really into shopping.

I stayed at the Riu Plaza. The front desk staff, especially Quinn (I hope I'm spelling that right!), was incredibly helpful and professional. The bed was super comfortable, but the bathroom situation wasn't quite as amazing as other people mentioned. There was no door in the changing room, just a sink.

The hotel's location was perfect, right near Pier 39 and Ghirardelli. Breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus, and it wasn't bad at all.

A Basketball Fan's Dream

As a huge NBA fan, the highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the Warriors game! Getting seats in the first ten rows was an unforgettable experience. Seeing Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Nikola Jokic, and Aaron Gordon up close was just incredible. The ticket price, $250 each, felt like a steal for that kind of view.

I may have gone a little overboard at the Chase Center, spending $1800 on a Stephen Curry jersey and an autographed photo with a frame. Then I paid $125 for extra-large luggage on the way back home. Thinking back, I can't believe that photo is now hanging in my house!

Lessons Learned: The Uber Dilemma

One mistake I made was not driving in San Francisco. I had already booked a $450 Alaska Air ticket. The business class seat wasn't much, just a bigger chair and extra luggage allowance.

I rented a car in Los Angeles (a BMW 4 series for $700), but I should have driven it to SF for those 3 days. I ended up spending $500 USD on Uber, including airport transfers ($40 + $60). I also took a trip to Oakland for some basketball training and a few short trips around the city. Uber is pricey there, for sure!

After the Warriors game, I took an Uber back to the hotel for $54.

The Best Part: A Scenic Walk

My favorite part of the entire trip was walking from Riu Plaza to the Chase Center. It was about a one-hour walk (3.2 miles) that took me through Chinatown, the Union Square area, and part of the Financial District. I wasn't going for the game itself, I was actually shopping for souvenirs. I enjoyed the incredible views along the way. It was a great way to see the city.

I'm already hoping to get back to the States soon!
