A Day of Wonders: Exploring Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and Yellow Dragon Cave
Planning a day trip to the breathtaking Zhangjiajie region? Here's a glimpse into an itinerary that combines the Grand Canyon and the Yellow Dragon Cave, packed with stunning views and exciting activities.
Morning Adventures at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon
Kick off your day early, aiming to be on the move around 8 am. Consider staying in Wulingyuan; it's convenient for accessing attractions. Grab a simple, local breakfast; you'll find plenty of options with prices ranging from 5 to 10 yuan per person. It's wise to pack a bit extra for lunch.
From Wulingyuan, a taxi ride to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon entrance is a cost-effective option, especially for families. Expect to pay around 40 to 50 yuan.
Ticket prices:
- Adults: 289 yuan
- Students: 178 yuan
If you're a student, have your photo ID (like a passport), student ID, and a document proving your bachelor-level studies ready. This might be an online document.
Your ticket covers the glass bridge, VR experience, zip line (or elevators, depending on your chosen route), slideway, and two boat rides. Additional experiences, such as bungee jumping (1999 yuan) and rock climbing (45 yuan), are also available.
Once you have your tickets, step onto the Glass Bridge, with shoe covers provided. At the other side, you will find a restaurant and the rock climbing area. You will also see the location for the bungee jump.
Next, there is a walk along the cliff side. Then, enjoy a short VR experience, giving you the sensation of a hot air balloon journey over the canyon.
Following the VR experience, you have the choice of either a zip line adventure and the slideway to reach the other side, or if that doesn't appeal, a series of elevators and a few short walks. Both routes lead you to Rainbow Lake.
A short boat cruise along the lake follows, offering spectacular views. Afterward, a 40-50 minute walk, including a short cave exploration, precedes another cruise that takes you to the Grand Canyon exit.
Afternoon Exploration: Yellow Dragon Cave
You'll likely conclude the Grand Canyon tour around 4 pm. A taxi ride from the Grand Canyon's exit to the Yellow Dragon Cave entrance, around 15 minutes, will cost you roughly 25 yuan. Coaches are also available, at 10 yuan per person.
Ticket prices for Yellow Dragon Cave:
- Adults: 130 yuan
- Students: 65 yuan
The last entry to the scenic area is at 5:30 pm. So, make sure you head there with plenty of time.
The Yellow Dragon Cave tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. You will take a guided tour through the caves, seeing amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations and beautiful light projections. A boat ride is also included.
After the cave exploration, take a 10-minute taxi ride back to Wulingyuan for about 15 yuan.
