Exploring Tianmen Mountain National Park in Zhangjiajie, China
Ever taken a cable car ride in the city that gradually transitions to towering mountains and rivers? That's what awaits you in Hunan's Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park! This park is a 5A-rated scenic area in China, and every step feels like you're stepping into a stunning landscape painting.
The iconic feature? That's the hole piercing through the mountain itself: Tianmen Cave!
A Scenic Route: The A Line Experience
There are various routes for exploring Tianmen Mountain. Today, let's embark on the A Line. This is the most comfortable and photogenic route!
First up, the cable car. It takes about 28 minutes to reach the top.
Next, the journey begins with the West Line, where you'll immediately encounter the glass skywalk. After that, the breathtaking Ghost Valley Plank Road awaits.
The views here are stunning, but if you have a fear of heights, prepare yourself!
Following the path to Tianmen Temple, instead of taking the cable car to the summit, the East Line to Tianmen Cave provides a different perspective.
If you missed taking photos on the first glass skywalk, the East Line offers another opportunity to capture some great shots. However, the overall scenery on the East Line might not be as spectacular as the West Line.
After a roughly 30-minute walk, you'll reach the escalator leading down to the entrance of Tianmen Cave.
At the cave entrance, prepare for a challenge: 999 steps down to the ground! If you prefer, there's an option to take the escalator for an additional fee of around $32.
