Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort: A Stay at Teluk Cempedak (July 24-25, 2025)

I recently spent a weekend in Kuantan, Pahang, and chose to experience two well-known resorts. The first, a landmark in the area, has been welcoming guests since the early 80s. This resort, located in the heart of Teluk Cempedak, officially opened its doors on September 6, 1980, with the Sultan of Pahang gracing the ceremony.

I booked my room through the World of Hyatt app and opted for a Deluxe room. This is the most affordable option, as its views aren't directly facing the beach. The room rate, excluding breakfast, was RM471.16, inclusive of an 18% tax.

Arriving around 1:30 PM, I headed straight to the lobby. The lobby is spacious and beautifully designed, with an open-air concept. I had already completed the online check-in, so the process at the counter was swift, taking only a few minutes. Since I didn't include breakfast in my initial booking, I added it for two people, at RM75 per person (including tax). While waiting for the room to be ready (check-in time is 4 PM), I explored the resort and took some photos.

By 2:30 PM, I received a notification via the app that my room was ready. I collected my room key card at the counter. The resort is expansive, with several building blocks. My room was in Block 2, on the ground floor. The resort has elevators, but I chose to use the stairs to go down (the lobby is on the 3rd floor).

Deluxe Room Details

The Deluxe room offers a comfortable 365 square feet of space. Upon entering, there's a large wardrobe to the left. Inside, you'll find space for hanging clothes, an iron, and an ironing board. Next to it, there's a safety deposit box and a mini-fridge. In the center, there are amenities for making beverages, along with complimentary bottled water in attractive glass bottles.

The room features a king-size bed and a medium-sized sofa on the right. In the corner, near the bed, there is a large round table and a chair, topped with a reading lamp. A 55-inch TV is mounted on the wall opposite the bed. The room has a sliding door that leads to a garden area with a children's playground.

The bathroom, located to the right of the entrance, is accessed via a sliding door. It's not overly spacious but houses a sink, toilet, and shower area. The bathroom wall facing the sleeping area can also be opened (sliding wall). There is a bidet next to the toilet. The shower area is somewhat compact and enclosed by clear glass. As a 5-star resort, they provide a comprehensive set of toiletries.

Resort Highlights

This resort's appeal extends beyond its beachfront location. It also features two large swimming pools. The pools are deep, reaching up to 2.1 meters. They're open from 8 AM to 8 PM. There's also a dedicated pool for children. Additionally, the resort has a 24-hour gymnasium.

The complimentary Wi-Fi provided a speed of 19mbps. For mobile connections, Tune Talk clocked in at 129mbps, while CelcomDigi reached 105mbps. The TV channels are plentiful and in HD quality. The water pressure was strong, making for a very satisfying shower. The resort offers free open-air parking for guests.

Breakfast Experience

Breakfast is served at the resort's restaurant, which is located on the ground floor and overlooks Teluk Cempedak Beach. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of dishes. I sampled several, and I found them to be delicious. Breakfast is available from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

The price, around RM500, can seem high for the room alone. However, it becomes worthwhile considering the resort's overall ambiance and appeal. The location, directly on the beach, and the two large swimming pools, definitely add value. Plus, the proximity to Teluk Cempedak allows easy access for exploration. The resort has been in operation for 45 years but is meticulously maintained. It's clean, with all amenities and surroundings kept in excellent condition. This resort is a great choice for anyone seeking relaxation and a beach atmosphere by the South China Sea. I'm looking forward to returning and staying in a room with a sea view next time.

As usual, I've included photos from my stay. If you want to read more of my reviews, please visit my section in this group. For more details about my staycation, follow me on FB. Thank you for reading!
