Traveling the World with Little Ones: A "Mom's" Guide

This picture perfectly captures our family's European adventure, featuring four of us journeying halfway across the globe with a 6-month-old and a 4-year-old. Mom's hair is always up (except for photos, of course! 🤣), wearing the little one, holding a fan or umbrella, while leading the older child or pushing the stroller. Dad's always behind the lens, making sure we get those precious memories. 😆

Here's how we made our trip fun and filled with beautiful photos ⬇️

Essentials for Traveling with Kids:

  • Baby carrier – Convenient, easy to use, and your little one will love being close to you, plus it allows them to nap whenever. We used the Artipoppe Carrier; it's comfortable, doesn't hurt my back, and it looks great. 😜
  • Stroller – Tourist attractions are vast, and a 4-year-old can easily get tired. We used the YoYo travel pram; it's lightweight and can be taken on the plane.
  • Two handheld fans – European summers can be hot.
  • Umbrella – Great for both sun and rain.
  • Phone lanyard – Keeps your phone safe from dropping or theft.

Tips for a Smoother Journey:

  • Take a taxi/Uber or book a private tour – avoid crowds, and it's easier to care for your children, which means less stress.
  • Bring toys and snacks for both kids.
  • Pack light, bring a luggage lock if you're taking long train journeys.
  • Don't bring designer items (to avoid attracting pickpockets). Moms, avoid handbags as they're inconvenient when carrying your child and taking care of them. But when you reach your final destination and want to buy things to bring back, it's all right! They're cheaper than buying them in Australia! 🤣
  • Use priority lanes for families with children.
  • Wake up early to explore when it's cooler and less crowded – your photos will be better too.
  • Rest in the afternoon to recharge everyone, then continue exploring in the late afternoon.

Creating Memories Through Photos:

  • Book professional photography services in each city you love – explore the sites while getting beautiful photos to take home.
  • Support Vietnamese people working in tourism in Europe - it's friendly, and they understand the local way of life.

Recommendations:

  • Private Tour: Trương Mộc Linh
  • Photographer in Paris: Nguyễn Anh Lukas
  • Photographer in Interlaken: Thu from Thun

Itinerary & Activities:

  • Don't overschedule – only 1–2 stops/day to keep the kids happy.
  • Choose appropriate activities: train rides (my older child loves them), picnics by the lake (tummy time for the little one, practice crawling).
  • Have an early dinner so the children can rest, and the parents can have "me-time".

Financial Considerations:

  • Carry less cash, use cards/Apple, Google Pay; have change ready because public restrooms in most European countries charge a fee.

Our 4-Week Adventure:

We explored these places:

  • Italy: Naples, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Ishia, Rome, Florence, Milan
  • France: Paris, Disneyland
  • Switzerland: Interlaken, Zürich
  • Sweden: Stockholm

💛 Most importantly: enjoy every moment!
