Honeymoon Day 7: Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos: An Unforgettable Greek Island
We recently had an incredible day on the island of Mykonos, Greece. Just like the colors on the Greek flag, the houses are predominantly painted a brilliant white, accented by vibrant blue doors and window frames. For anyone who loves taking photos, Mykonos is an absolute must-visit destination, with stunning details at every turn, from the narrow alleyways to the charming streets.
Our day began at 8 AM when our ship arrived. I'd recommend skipping the tours, as they can be expensive. The island is small, making it very easy to explore independently. We purchased a sea taxi ticket (5 USD round trip) to the town center right after disembarking. This area is packed with shops and restaurants, but prices are generally higher due to its popularity as a tourist spot.
After exploring a bit, we headed to Little Venice, where the photo opportunities are endless. From there, you can take a bus (6 USD, about a 15-minute ride) to Paradise Beach. The beach, located within a resort, boasts a beautiful setting with crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or taking pictures. The sand here has larger grains than the fine sand found in the Caribbean. Since we were visiting in summer, the weather was very hot, so we just took a quick stroll and then returned to Little Venice to try the famous Greek yogurt.
The ice cream and yogurt here are unbelievably delicious, costing about 8 USD for a small cup. The island's size means you can see a lot in just one day. Many travelers even prefer Mykonos over Santorini because it's less crowded and the scenery is equally breathtaking.
If you ever get the chance to visit Europe, Mykonos is a place you should definitely consider!
