Parkroyal A'Famosa Resort Melaka: A Refreshing Stay

My journey from Klebang led me to a resort tucked away in Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah. This spot is within the A'Famosa area, and it's the revamped Parkroyal A'Famosa Resort, with roots tracing back to 1992. After a major renovation, it reopened its doors on March 1, 2024. I booked a Superior room through Trip.com for RM288.66, which included taxes and breakfast for two.

I arrived around 3:00 PM and headed straight to the lobby for check-in. The lobby is spacious and open-air, with a restaurant nearby. The check-in process was swift, and I soon had my room key, heading to my room on the ground floor. This resort spans a vast area, with a total of 213 rooms.

The Superior Room Experience

The Superior room offered a generous 344 square feet of space. Stepping in, it felt brand new, a testament to the recent refurbishment despite its established history. Inside, a large wardrobe stood to the left. It housed hanging space, a safe, a weighing scale, and even a prayer mat. Two bathrobes were neatly hung there as well. An iron and ironing board were also provided.

Next to the wardrobe was a cabinet that held a mini-fridge. It also contained equipment for making beverages, along with some glassware. The resort doesn't provide bottled water; instead, filtered tap water is available in the bathroom. Beside the cabinet was a shelf for guests to place their belongings.

The room featured a king-size bed, a large round table, and a chair for working. A cozy seating area was placed near the window, perfect for relaxing. A large TV, perhaps 65 inches, was mounted on the wall opposite the bed. The room also had a balcony overlooking the parking area, with a chair and a small table.

Bathroom Details

The bathroom, located to the right of the entrance, was a bit compact. It featured sliding doors without a lock. There were two sinks, a toilet, and a shower area. The shower and toilet area were separated by clear glass. Two types of showers were available, and the resort thoughtfully provided a bidet hose for convenience. Complete toiletries were offered, including toothbrushes, hand towels, and face towels.

Resort Amenities

A highlight of the resort is the enormous outdoor swimming pool. It had several large pools, as well as a pool for children. The pool is open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. There's a 24-hour gymnasium located near the pool, and a Kids Club close by.

The breakfast selection was adequate, and I enjoyed the food. Breakfast is served in the lobby restaurant from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM. I also tried dinner at the restaurant, savoring the Bee Hoon Goreng for RM35. Room service is available, though the menu prices are on the higher side; for instance, Nasi Goreng Kampung was priced at RM59.

The complimentary WiFi was impressively fast, with download speeds of 263mbps and upload speeds of 247mbps. For mobile data, CelcomDigi clocked in at 864mbps, while Tune Talk reached 860mbps. The TV offered numerous free channels in HD. The water pressure in the shower was decent, and I was satisfied with the service.

Overall Impression

The resort, with its long-standing history since 1992, has undergone extensive renovations. Guests can still observe elements of its past, especially the landscaping. The rooms felt fresh, clean, and comfortable. The price point, at around RM300, is reasonable. It's a suitable place for family stays and relaxation, thanks to the spacious swimming pool.

Located within the A'Famosa area, the Melaka Premier Outlet is just 750 meters away for shopping. The area is quiet at night, and shops are a bit of a drive away. You'll need transportation if you want to dine or shop outside of the resort.
