Competitive Compensation
Earn a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with the top of the base scale reaching $67.11/hour. Pay increases are based on seniority, with additional compensation for language skills, leadership roles, and international trips.
Comprehensive Training
Your career begins with a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, where you'll learn United's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, you'll become a full-time employee and be assigned to one of our seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles, or another flight attendant base location. We provide a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, and two meals per day during training.

Requirements and Qualifications
Here's what we're looking for:
- Be at least 21 years old when you apply.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED; a minimum of two years of college is preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in the service industry, such as retail, hospitality, or aviation.
- Speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Be fluent in English.
- Be fluent in Vietnamese.
- Have the ability to hear all sounds.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- No tattoos are permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are allowed but must be no larger than a credit card / employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or be covered. Visible tattoos must not be offensive.
- No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth.
- Be proficient with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).
- Possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Have a valid U.S. or foreign passport book with the ability to travel globally without restrictions.
- Be able to travel to and from all United destinations without restrictions.
- Be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart.
- Be able to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with a seatbelt.
- Be required to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be willing to work a flexible schedule to support United's 24/7 operations.
Onboarding and Training Expectations
- Successfully complete a water evacuation drill.
- Complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Pass pre-employment and randomized drug screens. The use of medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited.
- Pass a 10-year background check. Your background must not prohibit travel to or from anywhere United flies.
